Troubleshooting Audio

Quick fixes:

  • Make sure your input and output devices are plugged in and available.
  • Check your operating system settings to make sure you've allowed permission for those devices to be used.
  • Leave and rejoin the talking.
  • Restart your app.
  • Update the desktop app.
  • Make sure your internet connection is strong.
  • If possible, disconnect and reconnect your input and output devices.</aside>

Microphone and speaker issues

Audio quality is poor, can't hear, or can't be heard

If you're experiencing poor audio quality (e.g. crackling, delays, robotic voices), or if no one can hear you or you can't hear others, try the following:

  • Refresh the tab
  • Make sure you have a strong network connection
  • Update your Sail app to the latest version
  • Update your computer's operating system to the latest version
  • If possible, disconnect your speaker device and reconnect

Microphone volume is too low

If your microphone volume is too quiet relative to your volume settings, try the following:

  • Switch Boards
  • Quit and restart your browser or desktop app
  • Use a different input device

If low volume persists, try restarting your computer.

No speakers or microphones detected

If Sail isn't able to detect your speaker or microphone device, try the following:

  • Restart the application
  • Make sure your input and output devices are connected and available.
  • If possible, disconnect and reconnect your speaker and microphone devices.
  • Check your operating system settings to make sure you've allowed permission for those devices to be used.

Network issues

Disconnected, reconnecting warning

If audio is Connecting... or Attempting to reconnect, it's possible that your network connection is poor. In this case, improve your network connection.

If your network connection is strong, try the following:

  • Switch boards
  • Leave and rejoin by switching the toggle or hitting OPTION  + T
